Before his betrayal of the Gotei 13 during the Soul Society arc, Captain Aizen established himself as a popular and charismatic person, who could easily win the trust and admiration of other people.
In particular, he had Lieutenant Momo Hinamori 's total respect as her Captain, making her easy to manipulate. Charismatic people can easily get favors and get themselves out of trouble, and Aizen had the face and the personal charms to pull this off over and over again. This made everyone lower their guard around him. This talent didn't help Aizen win any fights, but it did show just how extensive his skills and talents were, making him something of a Renaissance man in the Gotei Captains are allowed to have hobbies, and Aizen was known for his mastery of traditional Japanese calligraphy a talent he shared with Byakuya Kuchiki.
Aizen even taught classes for calligraphy writing, and more than a few eager young ladies signed up so they could see Aizen's masterful hand at work. The most compelling villains are those who aren't just powerful, but also elegant. Right before he openly betrayed the Soul Society, Aizen already had his bases covered for his escape. He, Captain Gin Ichimaru, and Captain Kaname Tosen were quite outnumbered, and they were totally surrounded when the other Captains and Lieutenants tried to capture them on Sokyoku Hill.
Even Aizen might have struggled to escape the combined forces of his former allies, but that's why he had a squad of Menos Grande to help.
A pack of them opened a garganta portal and evacuated Aizen and his fellows with beams of light, and not even the strongest Soul Reapers could do anything about it.
Now that's just unfair. Aizen had quite a few enemies, including the eight Visored warriors who all wanted revenge for what happened to them. During the final fight in the fake Karakura Town, Shinji Hirako, the previous Captain of squad 5, used his tricky shikai, Sakanade, on Aizen directly.
Shinji's shikai can totally disorient the enemy's senses and scramble their motor skills. This makes it nearly impossible for the target to fight correctly, but Aizen figured out the pattern with astonishing speed and resumed fighting despite Sakanade's mind-bending effects.
Shinji could hardly believe his eyes. Sosuke Aizen had a powerful zanpakuto and kido spells at his disposal, but he still wanted more. But, all has long since been revealed about Aizen's powers, and there's a lot to cover. Aizen was a Kido Master and his ability to use several different types of Kido spells was actually shocking to the Captain of the Kido Corps — the most skillful kido user in Soul Society. Normally, high-level Kido spells would be too powerful for a normal Shinigami without an incantation , but Aizen easily used every high-level Kido with no need for incantation at all.
Despite these feats of strength, Aizen's abilities fell below the radar, thanks to his flashier colleagues. For the hypnosis to be work, the opponent only needs to see the sword once it's drawn. This ability makes him immune to both the Visored and the Captains of Gotei 13, who lean heavily on their perceptions. The Shikai can only be deactivated willingly, at which point it will shatter like broken glasses, revealing the truth to his opponents. Despite its power potential, Aizen's Bankai was never revealed.
During the battle in fake Karakura Town, Aizen revealed he had fused with and mastered the Hogyoku Orb embedded in his chest, boosting his strength and speed immeasurably. Hitsugaya resolves to kill Aizen for his treachery and releases his Bankai. Ichigo is then impaled by a sword held by Rukia which causes him to become a Soul Reaper once again. Ichigo was never a soul reaper. So it is ok to call him a soul reaper when his soul is outside his body.
Soul Reapers are a fictional race of spirits who govern the flow of souls between the human world and the afterlife realm called the Soul Society. Why did Aizen turn evil? Is Aizen overpowered? Why is Aizen so strong?
